Chancellor candidates’ and Rector’s election in 2008

The nomination of candidates will begin on 15 February 2008 and end on 14 March 2008.

flags The University of Helsinki will have two elections this spring as the five-year terms of the current Chancellor and the Rector and Vice-Rectors will end.

The nomination of candidates will begin on 15 February 2008 and end on 14 March 2008. A group formed by a minimum of ten members of the University of Helsinki can propose a chancellor candidate, with the consent of the candidate. Panel discussion participated in by Chancellor candidates will be held at the Great Hall on 4 April 2008, at 2.30 p.m.

In the selection for the shortlist of Chancellor candidates, held on 10 April 2008, the Electoral College will select a shortlist of three candidates from which the President of Finland will appoint the Chancellor. The new Chancellor’s term will begin on 1 June 2008.

The nomination of candidates will begin on 15 February 2008 and end on 5 May 2008. The Electoral College will select the Rector on 27 May and appoint the Vice-Rectors based on the proposal submitted by the Rector on 10 June 2008. The terms of the new Rector and Vice-Rectors will being on 1 August 2008.
