New Seminar Series in Translational Neuroscience
The Translational Neuroscience Seminars is a new series is organized jointly by the Neuroscience Center, Molecular Neurology Programme and Department of Neurology in Viikki and Meilahti campuses.
"The goal of this seminar series is to bring basic neuroscientists, clinically oriented researchers and neurologists together to support the networking and exchange of ideas, a prerequisite for enhanced translational activities in the multidisciplinary field of neuroscience", says docent Henri Huttunen from the Neuroscience Center.
The seminars will be organized 2-3 times per semester in an alternating fashion in Viikki and Meilahti campuses. " A speaker with a timely topic will be invited to visit the other campus and the main presentation will be accompanied by a supporting local presentation offering more food-for-thought either on the molecular mechanistic or clinical aspects of the topic", Huttunen says.
The series is supported by the Finnish Neurodegeneration Initiative and Hermo Pharma Ltd.
The first speakers of this new series are docent Pentti Tienari from the Molecular Neurology Programme, Biomedicum and Helsinki University Central Hospital and Dr. Mikko Frilander from the Institute of Biotechnology.
Translational Neuroscience Seminars start on 10.11.2011.
