Application process and deadlines

The application period for admission 2013 will be open from mid November 2012 to late January 2013

Admission 2012 is now closed

Up to 10 students will be admitted to the MNEURO-programme. The student selection is based on the application documents.

Acceptance letters will be sent to 13 applicants (10 + 3 applicants). Applicants on the reserve list will be considered if less than 10 of the 13 applicants accept the study place, in order to keep the maximum number of accepted students at 10.

Application Process

The application period begins on 21.11.2011 and ends on 31.1.2012 (local time in Finland 16.15, GMT + 2 hours). The applications need to arrive by this time (postmark date will not suffice). All applicants should use the online registration form.The signed application form together with required enclosures should be sent to:

by post or by courier service by the deadline. If you use a courier service, please also mark down the University Admissions Finland’s phone number +358 (0)9 191 23528.

All copies of obligatory enclosures must be legalised either by the institution that has issued the original document or by a notary public.

Read carefully about the new country-specific requirements for legalizing your documents (for applications from Bangladesh, Cameroon, Canada, China, Eritrea, Ghana, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, U.S.A. only ).

Applicants are also requested to send copies of possible testimonials if they have relevant work experience and possible letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Language test results must arrive at University Admissions Finland by the application deadline.

Results

The results of the student selection will be available in April 2012. All applicants, who submitted a complete application by the deadline, will be notified of the results by post or by email.

Appeal for amendment and accepting the offered study place

An applicant who believes a mistake was made in the student selection can apply for amendment within 14 days after the results have been published. The appeal must be done in writing and it must include detailed information on the grounds for the appeal. The appeals must arrive by the given deadline (postmark date will not suffice).

Accepted students will receive detailed information on accepting the study place and enrolment in the acceptance letter. The accepted student can also authorize another person to submit the enrolment documents if the accepted student is not able to submit them himself/herself. All accepted applicants must submit the confirmation form of accepting the study place by June 12, 2012 (local time in Finland 16.15, GMT + 2 hours) and the enrolment documents by July 31, 2012 (local time in Finland 16.15, GMT + 2 hours) or they will forfeit the study place.

Accepted students should enroll present for the first academic year. Students who have accepted a study place may apply for a deferment of the beginning of studies if they have justified reasons. Deferment can be applied for the whole academic year 2012-2013, for autumn semester 2012, or for spring semester 2013. Deferment can be applied for by sending a written, free form application to the Admissions Board of Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences. The application must include detailed arguments for the requested deferment. Relevant documents and testimonials should be attached to the application. Work or studies in another institution without any further arguments are not considered as justified reasons.


Accepting the study place

All accepted applicants must submit the confirmation form of accepting the study place by June 12, 2012 (local time in Finland 16.15, GMT + 2 hours) and the enrolment documents by July 31, 2012 (local time in Finland 16.15, GMT + 2 hours) or they will forfeit the study place.
