GROUP
Our group is headed by Docent Arkady Krasheninnikov (personal website) and Docent Jani Kotakoski (personal website) within the materials modelling group of Prof. Kai Nordlund (personal website) in the Division of Materials Physics at University of Helsinki. We have been working on nanostructured carbon materials and their response to ion and electron irradiation since 2001. Please check out the Publications page for details. We are physically located at the Accelerator laboratory in the Kumpula Campus in Helsinki, Finland.
Doc. Arkady Krasheninnikov spends half of his time in the Laboratory of Physics in the Electronic Properties of Materials (EPM) group of Prof. Martti Puska (official website) and Prof. Risto Nieminen (official website) at the recently founded Aalto University (former Helsinki University of Technology).
Dr. Jani Kotakoski (personal website) rejoined the group in August 2009 after his first postdoc in the Materials Modelling group of Prof. Karsten Albe in Darmstadt, Germany. Dr. Ossi Lehtinen, who carried out both experimental and theoretical work for his Ph.D., finished his studies in 2011 and continues to work in the group.
During summer 2010, we have had the priviledge to instruct summer students B.Sc. Etienne Dumur and B.Sc. David Santos-Cottin from Grenoble, France and Ms. Harriet Åhlgren from our own university. Since then, Ms. Åhlgren has continued working with us as a part-time student.
This website was created and is mainly maintained by Dr. Jani Kotakoski.
