Nuria Altimir is MSc in biology by the University of Barcelona and PhD in Forest Ecology at the University of Helsinki. She has also worked in the iLEAPS office and in the CTFC in Catalunya. Her background training is broadly on terrestrial ecology and she has specialised in the biogeochemistry of air-land interactions. She has studied primarily ozone deposition to the vegetation and the mechanisms behind the process. This work is summarized in her thesis. (Altimir 2006). Currently she is interested in the potential role of BVOC and aerosol load in ozone scavenging. She is also involved in research on C and N cycling in high-mountain pastures in the Pyrenees, looking at the interactions with land-use and studying also the role of plant diversity.

She has been participating in the following projects:

ACCENT/BIAFLUX
Atmospheric Composition Change European Network of Excellence/Biosphere-Atmosphere Exchange

VOCBAS
Volatile Organic Compounds in the Biosphere-Atmosphere System

iLEAPS / IGBP
Integrated Land Ecosystem – Atmosphere Processes Study / International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme
