THE ATLAS OF FINLAND introduces the reader to the natural environment, population, economy, society, and cultural life of Finland. The Atlas celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1999. The sixth Finnish-language edition of the Atlas was published in March of 1999 by the Geographical Society of Finland and Werner Söderström Publishing Company. This anniversary edition is available in major bookstores in Finland. An updated and expanded English-language edition was published as a special issue of Fennia and as an attached CD-Rom in November of 2002 (Volume 180, Numbers 1–2). This special issue, titled “Finland – Nature, Society, and Regions,” is available via Fennia’s publisher, the Geographical Society of Finland. The fifth edition of the Atlas of Finland, published in folio format in 1977–1994, can be obtained through the Map Center, Box 84, 00521 Helsinki, Finland. |
