Becoming a LUOVA supervisor

LUOVA requires that all its student members receive high-quality supervision, mentoring, guidance and good advice throughout their doctoral studies. Supervisors affiliated to the doctoral programme must hold a docentship and/or a status of principal investigator at the university and be familiar with LUOVA's Code of parctice.
Docents and principal investigators at LUOVA's member departments are welcome to apply for the status of LUOVA supervisor if their work represents LUOVA's fields of research (conservation, management and sustainable use of natural populations). Supervisor membership is applied by sending a short free form letter to the coordinator of LUOVA describing:
| the applicant's research activities and available research funding, | ||
| resources available to PhD students' research, | ||
| supervision provided, and | ||
| the applicant's contribution to and expectations of LUOVA. | ||
In case the supervisor applicant does not have an established position at the university or his/her research institute, he/she must also explain how supervision and stable working conditions are quaranteed to students for the entire duration of their four-year PhD projects.
All applicants must attach a short CV to the application.
LUOVA's coordinator will deliver the application to the board of LUOVA that decides on the supervisor's acceptance.
