The national LUMA Centre (LU stands for ‘luonnontieteet’, natural science in Finnish, and MA for mathematics) is an umbrella organisation coordinated by the Faculty of Science of the University of Helsinki to bring schools, universities and industries together.

The aim of the LUMA Centre is to promote the learning, studying and teaching of natural science, mathematics, computer science and technology on all levels.

The LUMA Centre works together with schools, teachers, students of education and several other cooperation partners in order to achieve its goals.

Please send questions, feedback, ideas, wishes, tips and information about new teaching materials, equipment, events and training opportunities to luma-keskus(at)helsinki.fi.

Make a donation to support LUMA activities!

Our aim is to get children and youth inspired by LUMA subjects and technology. LUMA is an abbreviation from the Finnish words “luonnontieteet”, i.e. natural sciences, and “matematiikka”, mathematics. We established LUMA Fund in order to motivate children and youth into studying these subjects and find the joy of LUMA on their spare time as well.
