Transportation to the Viikki Campus Library

Public transportation:
Several busses stop at Viikki, please see the Helsinki Region Transport website for details. The following busses stop next to the Viikki Info Centre: 68, 68X, 57, 506 and 550. Most of these lines operate with low-floor busses.

Driving:
The best driving route to the campus area is through the intersection of Pihlajamäentie and Latokartanonkaari. Take a right onto Kanslerinkaari off Latokartanonkaari. There are two accessible parking places between the Info Centre Korona and Biocentre 1 buildings at the end of Kanslerinkaari (please see the adjacent map for details).

Getting around at the Viikki Campus Library

The Viikki Campus Library is located in the Info Centre Korona. The entrance to the building is at ground level. The same building also houses the Viikki branch of the Helsinki City Library. The collections of the Viikki Campus Library are housed on four different floors. All floors are accessible by lift. Our staff will be glad to provide help in using the collections, should you need any.
The library's group work rooms are located on the first, third and fourth floors. The most accessible is room number 136 with a capacity of 12 people, located on the ground floor. Every floor of the Campus Library has Helka terminals for accessing the Helka database. On the second and fourth floors, the terminals have been placed at two different heights. On the first and third floors the terminals are placed on high desks. The higher desks are designed for use while standing. The lower desks are designed for use while seated and from a wheelchair.

Guide and helper dogs

Guide and helper dogs are welcome at the Campus Library.

Accessible toilets

Accessible toilets can be found on the third and fourth floors of the Campus Library. The accessible toilet on the second floor (the entrance level) is located on the premises of the Helsinki City Library. The accessible toilet on the first floor is in the lobby of the Info Centre Korona.

Using the library from home: online materials

The online materials of the University of Helsinki can be found through the NELLI portal. People with usernames for the University of Helsinki network (i.e., students and staff) can also use the online materials from home through a VPN connection.
The library collections’ database HELKA is freely available on the Internet. Some textbooks are available as e-books which can be checked out through Helka with a library card. The Helda database includes electronic articles and text excerpts which are required for degree studies.
