Loan periods

When you have a library card, you can borrow text books and literature from the Library. Periodicals and journals, for instance, are for reference use only.
The loan period may vary according to the collection.

Terkko´s loan periods are:

• 28 days - normal loan period
• 2 days - short loans
• 7 days - journals

If you return your loans after the due date, you will have to pay an overdue fee.
You can return your loans only to the library you borrowed them from.

Overdue fines

Fines will be collected daily up to 14 days after which your lending privileges will be suspended.
Fines for overdue loans vary according to collection:

• Text books: 0,70 € / day / item, max. 9,80 € / item
• Short term loans: 2,00 € / day / item, max. 28 € / item
• Other collections: 0,30 € / day / item, max. 4,20 € / item 

The fine starts to accrue on the date following the due date. You can check your unpaid fines and fees by logging in to your account in HELKA. You may pay the fines when you have renewed or returned the overdue books.

Suspension of Borrowing Privileges

If you have 10 Euros or more in unpaid fines or if you have one or more loans overdue by 14 days or more, your card will be blocked in all HELKA-libraries. You're card may also be blocked if your customer information is not updated.

If your card is blocked, you will not be able to renew or borrow materials.

Borrowing privileges will be restored when you:

• return or replace all overdue books
• pay the overdue fines
• update your customer information
