CONGRESZON LTD is the official congress office of the Logic Colloquium 2003 and is in charge of registration, the social program, accommodation and all remaining practical matters.

Registration Procedure

To register for the Colloquium, to reserve hotel accommodation and/or to book social events and tours, please complete the registration form (available in PDF) and send it to Congreszon Ltd by email attachment or fax. If you pay by credit card and have written your credit card number on the form, we recommend that you fax the form for security reasons. After receiving the registration form and payments, Congreszon will send you a confirmation letter. An on-line registration form is available.

Registration fees

The full fee is € 200 before May 31 and € 250 after that. Accompanying person's fee is € 70 before May 31 and € 90 after that. There is no fee for
  1. students who have been granted financial support,
  2. invited speakers and
  3. members of the Program Committee.
The registration fee includes: admission to all sessions, receptions and the conference proceedings published by ASL in the series Lecture Notes in Logic, to be sent to the registered participant afterwards. The accompanying person's fee includes receptions and the special half day tour for accompanying persons on Friday, 16 August. Children under 18 years are exempt from the accompanying person's fee, and they can obtain tickets to the social events at half price, except for the tours to Tallinn and St. Petersburg.

All payments should be made in euros. Payment can be made either by sending a bank transfer or by credit card (Visa, Eurocard and Mastercard are accepted).

Please check that your name and LC2003 are clearly indicated in the remittance to ensure that the payment will be correctly registered. To be eligible for early registration the payment should be received by May 31, 2003. Bank transfers should be made net of all bank charges and commissions.

From Airport to the Central Railway Station

Take the Finnair bus (fare 4.9 €) to the City Terminal by the Railway Station or bus number 615 or 615T (Region ticket 3 €) to the Railway Station. Total driving time is about 35 minutes. The Region ticket is valid also in trams for 80 minutes. You can also take a Yellow line - Airport taxi. This taxi company is using multi-person vans (shuttle-bus). They charge 18 € for 1-4 people, 36 € for 5-7 people and 50 € for 8 people (private taxi).

Lunches

Participants can purchase lunch tickets in advance (see the registration form). Lunch is served at University Main and Porthania buildings (Porthania is next to the Main building). Different lunch alternatives will be available, also for vegetarians. Lunch tickets cost € 5 each and are valid on 13 - 21 August, 2003, except on Sunday, when the university restaurants are closed.

Computer accounts

Each participant of Logic Colloquium 2003 is entitled to have a user account for the Mikroverkko computers. The account can be obtained at the registration desk of the meeting. Mikroverkko computers are equipped with a modern Windows operating system and access to the Internet. There are dozens of computers located in the Computer Centre at Fabianinkatu 28 (enter first the courtyard through the gate located halfway between the doors marked "26" and "28", then go through the door on your right). There are also eight computers on the ground floor of the Main Building and two on the third floor. Printing can be done in the Computer Centre.

The computers have hostnames ending in .helsinki.fi and IP addresses in the range 128.214.0.0 - 128.214.255.255.

Accommodation

Accommodation during the Colloquium has been reserved at the hotels listed below. Please note that when reserving a double room both names should be listed on the form. Congreszon Ltd cannot guarantee late reservations. The rate includes VAT and breakfast.

Tutorial, plenary and special session speakers need not make a hotel reservation. Unless notified otherwise, the organizers will book accommodation for them at Cumulus Kaisaniemi, Cumulus Seurahuone or the University Guesthouse. Students and young researchers with accommodation support will be housed by the organizers in Hostel Satakuntatalo.

Hotel / Hostel Deposit

To guarantee your hotel reservation a deposit of &euro 150 for hotels and € 60 for hostels is required. The deposit should be paid together with the other registration payments. The rest of the accommodation payment should be paid directly to the hotel and the deposit paid will be credited on your final hotel bill when checking out. Your hotel reservation will be confirmed when Congreszon has received your deposit. All alterations or cancellations to accommodation reservation should be addressed to Congreszon in writing.

Thursday 14.8 15.15 - 15.30 Opening Ceremony in the Great Hall of the University.
Thursday 14.8 18.00 - 19.00 Helsinki City Reception at the City Hall, Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13.
Sunday 17.8 afternoon € 35 Architectural tour of Helsinki followed by a classical music concert of one hour's duration. Participants meet at 15:00 at the statue of Czar Alexander II in Senate Square. A 2 hour tour conducted by professional architects will feature buildings from all stylistic periods. At approximately 17:00 the participants will be transported to "Lallukka", a historic building consisting of publicly funded artist's studios. A snack is offered in the Great Hall of the building, simultaneously with a lecture on the building and some of the art in the Hall. At 5:45 participants make their way to the Rock Church (a 5 minute walk from Lallukka), where the concert begins at 18:00. This concert features the world-renowned Finnish opera singer Jorma Hynninen and takes place in a Helsinki landmark building, the aforementioned "Rock Church" (Lutherinkatu 3), a modern church carved into a small hill of granite. Hynninen will sing songs of Schubert, Vaughan Williams, Merikanto and Sibelius. He is accompanied by the pianist Ilkka Paananen. Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the registration desk separately for 25 euro. For those attending the concert only, the Church is a 20 minute walk from Senate Square, and is also on the 3T line.
Monday 18.8 19.00 - 23.30 € 25 Banquet in restaurant Walhalla on the island of Suomenlinna. Suomenlinna is in the Helsinki harbor and also a World Heritage Site. The Royal Line boat M/S Natalie will leave at 19.00 from Kauppatori (the Market Square), by the Lybeck pier near the Old Market Hall. Look for balloons with the LC2003 logo printed on them. The fee includes transportation by boat to the island. If you miss the congress boat, you can take an ordinary ferry to the Suomenlinna island and simply walk to Restaurant Walhalla (the next ferries leave at 19.40 and 20.20).
Tuesday 19.8 19.00 - 20.30 Reception hosted by the Rector of the University, professor Ilkka Niiniluoto. The reception will be held in a Reading Room (Lehtisali) next to the Great Hall of the University.

Post-Colloquium tour to St. Petersburg, 22 -24.8.2003

Colloquium participants and the accompanying persons are offered the possibility of attending a post-colloquium tour by train to St. Petersburg, the old capital of the Russian Empire. The tour includes half-board accommodation, city sightseeing, visits to the Hermitage, Catherine Palace and Yusupov Palace. Price per person € 757/sgl and € 630/dbl. Note: Another logic conference, the 2nd St. Petersburg Days of Logic and Computability will take place in St. Petersburg on August 24-26.

Cancellation Policy and Liability

Cancellation of registration: 75 % of the registration fee will be refunded if a written notification of cancellation addressed to Congreszon Ltd is received by July 1, 2003. No refund will be issued for cancellations received after this date.

Cancellation of tours: 50 % of the fee will be refunded for cancellation addressed to Congreszon Ltd by June 15, 2003. No refund will be issued for cancellations after this date.

Cancellation of hotel: 50 % of the payment will be refunded for cancellation addressed to Congreszon Ltd by May 31, 2003. No refund will be issued for cancellations received after this date.

Liability: The LC 2003 Organizers and Congreszon Ltd act as agent only in securing hotels, transport and travel services and shall in no event be liable for acts or omissions in the event of injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity of any kind whatsoever during arrangements organised through contractors or the employees of such contractors in carrying out services. Hotel and transportation services are subject to the terms and conditions under which they are offered to the public in general. The Colloquium Organizers and the Congreszon reserve the right to make changes where deemed necessary, without prior notice to parties concerned. All disputes are subject to Finnish Law.
