Postgraduate studies![]() The Faculty of Arts approved the requirements for a postgraduate degree in Women's Studies proposed by the Christina Institute in December 2003. The right to study for a postgraduate degree can be applied for three times a year. Students interested in postgraduate studies should contact professor Tuija Pulkkinen in advance. Gender System Graduate School is a national doctoral programme for Women's Studies in Finland. The graduate school is coordinated by the Christina Institute and its director is professor Tuija Pulkkinen. The supervising of the dissertations and the teaching are organized by the members of the coordinating committee. The doctoral program started in 1995 as one of the first doctoral programs in Finland. For its third four-year period 2003–2006 the graduate school received funding from the Finnish Ministry of Education and the Academy of Finland as well as the universities of Helsinki and Jyväskylä. The main activity of the graduate school consists of working seminars in which the graduate students discuss their work together with each other and the coordinating committee members. In addition, some 5–7 seminars and conferences are organized yearly by the graduate school together with the Women's Studies units in different universities. |
