Special work rooms

Helsinki University staff and students can make reservations to microfilm readers and audio-visual equipment in the Office 365-calendar from July 2016.

HU external customers cannot make reservations in Office365-calendar. Ask the reservation from the Kaisa House customer service (e-mail library-center [at] helsinki.fi).

Microfilm readers and scanners 4044 (4th floor)

Customers outside Helsinki University can read microfilms, but cannot scan/save them.

Get lenses for microfilm scanners from the customer service on the 3rd floor, give your library card as a deposit.

There are two scanners in the same room and the space is limited: be considerate and let other user work in peace.

Hu students and staff: Do the reservation using your Office365 calendar: www.helsinki.fi/office365 

  • Open the calendar. Double-click the day for which you want to make a booking. 
  • Search Kaisa-talo from the "add people" on the right to add an equipment.
  • Choose Search directory and then a suitable equipment from the drop-down menu:
    • Kaisa-talo, Microfilm Reader and Scanner, 4044.
    • Kaisa-talo, Microfilm Reader, 4044.
  • Add a title for the event and then click Send.
  • The equipment you have reserved will send an email to confirm or reject your reservation. Please note that the reservation is valid only after the equipment calendar has confirmed it. Always check the email sent by the equipment.
  • Your reservation will be rejected if it is too long (more than two hours), the reservation is outside the opening hours, or if someone else has made a reservation at the same time as you. 

Scanner and listening room 5041 (5th floor)

There is a color scanner for large picture books (A3 paper size) and the computer with PhotoShop program. There is also a sound equipment and a DVD player. Get headphones from the customer service on the 3rd floor, give your library card as a deposit.

Customers outside Helsinki University cannot use the color scanner.

All devices are in the same room and the space is limited: be considerate and let other user work in peace.

Accessible work room 6042 (6th floor)

  • Reading and study space for 1-4 people.
  • Two electric desks, easily adjustable.
  • Suitable for customers with wheelchairs.
  • Cannot be reserved.

Researcher lounges and Alumnicorner

Reseachers and staff of the University of Helsinki can make reservations to researcher lounges in Office365-calendar from August 1st, 2016. Until then the reservations are made at the Kaisa House customer service, e-mail library-center [at] helsinki.fi, or phone 02941 23920.

Researcher lounge and Alumnicorner 7046 (7th floor) - For Helsinki University Researchers and Staff

  • For 2-8 people.
  • At 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. reservations for the university staff only (especially for researchers).
  • After 4 p.m. used as Alumnicorner. HU alumni can reserve the room by sending e-mail to address alumni@helsinki.fi.
  • Researchers and alumni may use the space temporarily without making a reservation, if the space is free. However, users who have made a reservation always take precedence.

From August 1st, 2016: Do the reservation using your Office365 calendar: www.helsinki.fi/office365

  • Open the calendar. Double-click the day for which you want to make a booking. 
  • Click add room on the right to add a room. Choose a suitable room from the drop-down menu: Kaisa-talo, Researcher & Alumni Lounge, 7046.
  • The room will send an email to confirm or reject your reservation. Please note that the reservation is valid only after the room calendar has confirmed it. Always check the email sent by the room.
  • Your reservation will be rejected if it is too long (more than two hours), the reservation is outside the opening hours, or if someone else has made a reservation at the same time as you.

Reading room for researchers and teachers 6034 (6th floor)

  • For 1-4 people.
  • Reservations from the customer service, for example by e-mail: library-citycentre [at] helsinki.fi.
  • University students and staff may use the room if the space is free. However, users who have made a reservation always take precedence.
