Acquisition Proposal

Suggest new material for the Library collections!

If you are a staff member or a student at University of Helsinki, you can make an acquisition proposal for the library collections through this web form.

All suggestions are considered in relation to the library's collection development policy and the available funds. Serials and databases are acquired yearly, decisions are made early in the autumn.

The library acquires new material primarily in electronic form if it is available at a reasonable price.

Please note that the National Library of Finland has its own acquisition process.

Acquiring coursebooks and books for the UH departments

Acquiring textbooks for the courses is a joint process of faculties and the Library.

Confirmed textbooks for Viikki and Kumpula campuses should be ordered via this web form.
Meilahti and City Centre campuses’ textbooks are handled through contact persons:

  • City Centre Campus: Seija.Karvanen[at]helsinki.fi
  • Kumpula Campus: Mari.Viljanen[at]helsinki.fi
  • Meilahti Campus: Henna.Sorvali[at]helsinki.fi
  • Viikki Campus: Merja.Kettunen[at]helsinki.fi

Also please notify the library of books which are no longer in the course requirements.

If a department and the library have made an arrangement that the library purchases books for the department with the department's funds, the purchase information can be sent through this same web form.
