Computers

The Learning Centre has about 340 computers for independent study. The 70 computers on Floor 1 are reserved for quick use.

To use the computers in Aleksandria, you need a user account for the University of Helsinki.

Helpdesk

IT support is available via telephone and e-mail at Helpdesk. There's also a chat service on the site.

Copiers and printers

There are multifunction printers on each floor. A smartcard is used to identify oneself on the printers (e.g. HSL travel card, a new type of UH ID card or the newest student cards).

Even though Unigrafia is primarily responsible for the technical maintenance of the machines, it is best to first turn to the helpdesk if the machines do not work.

Storage of research material

There are storage units on wheels for storage of material needed in research or thesis work. The units can be obtained free of charge but you will need a coin to insert in the lock to remove the key. For information on storage unit booking status, ask the library service desk personnel.

Group study rooms

Aleksandria's five group study rooms are located on the 3rd floor. You can book a group study room through the Office365 calendar.

  • Group Study Room 329 & 333, max. 10 people
  • Group Study Room 330, 331 & 332, max. 6 people.

Teaching facilities

Computer classrooms K130 - K133 and other teaching facilities can be booked through email: tilavaraus@helsinki.fi

Master's Thesis-rooms

A three rooms are available for those who are working on their Master’s thesis. The rooms are located on the second floor, numbers 229, 230 and 231, and are always unlocked.

Other facilities

The student lounge is located on the floor between Floor K and Floor 1. This space is not for working. The lounge is available during Aleksandria opening hours only.

Handicapped accessible toilets are located on Floors 1 and 3.  The other toilets are located near the lifts on each floor, except for the Floor K and Floor 1, where the toilets are at the north end of the building.
