Central archives

Welcome to Helsinki University Central Archives!

The Central Archives of the University of Helsinki is the central historical archives for the documents and materials of the University of Helsinki. It is also responsible for the overall co-ordination of the University's archival management.
The Central archives preserve the University's documents and materials as well as those of its predecessors, the Imperial Alexander University and the Turku Academy. Documents and materials, which have historical or scientific value and which are relevant to the functioning of the University are also stored here. The materials range over a time period extending from the founding of the Turku Academy in 1640 and up to the 21st century, and cover a space over 2000 metres.
