Development of organic synthesis, catalytic methods and non-covalent molecular interactions

Kuva

Project leader: University Lecturer Juho Helaja

The research objectives of the Helaja group lie in study and development of organic synthesis, catalytic methods and non-covalent molecular interactions. The experimental work relies essentially on theoretical understanding and hypothesis supported by computational chemistry. The catalysis research covers metal and metal-free homo- and heterogeneous catalysis, whereas synthetic efforts have been made to gain molecules, which exhibit e.g. specific self-assembling properties or controlled tautomeric switching. One long term research line has been chlorophyll modifications for photophysical applications. More freshly, the focus of biomaterial research been directed towards modification of the forest chemistry flows and side flows to gain value-added-chemicals.
