Chemical Crystallography

Kuva

X-ray diffraction has for years been an important tool in the laboratory in characterizing crystalline compounds in the form of a single crystal, powder or thin film. Also applications utilizing X-ray reflectance have increased when studying thin films. In the single crystal studies a cooling device using liquid nitrogen allows data collection from organometallic and volatile compounds, many of which are unstable at room temperature. Samples used in structure determinations vary from inorganic to organic compounds via various metal complexes and organometallic compounds.

These pages give a brief overview of the research activities. For more details, please see the latest annual report of the Department of Chemistry or contact the Head of the Laboratory.
