Health monitoring

The veterinarian is responsible to plan and organize the health monitoring at the LAC. With the health monitoring, the LAC knows what is the microbiological status of the animal facilities. The health monitoring is planned individually in every microbiologically separate facility with FELASA (Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations) guidelines and recommendations ( http://www.felasa.eu/document-library/cat_view/17-guidelines-a-recommendations/19-health-monitoring ).

At the LAC, the health monitoring is done four times per year in the next animal facilities: F-building and Biocenter 2 in Viikki, and Biomedicum in Meilahti. In all facilities, the health monitoring is done both in conventional and barrier sections from mice and rats.

The health monitoring reports of the animal facilities can be seen in Flamma Intranet
