Graduate School in Pharmaceutical Research
(http://www.uku.fi/farmasia/tutkijakoulu/english/) is a Finnish research school for graduate students at the University of Helsinki and the University of Kuopio (from 2010 on University of Eastern Finland). The graduate school in Pharmaceutical Research especially organizes a multidisciplinary scientific researcher education and training in the area of drug research and development in Finland. The graduate students perform full-time research in one of the research groups in the graduate school and carry out studies to achieve a PhD degree in about four years. The pharmaceutical fields included are biopharmacy, pharmacology, pharmaceutical biology, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, social pharmacy and pharmacoeconomy.
Graduate School in Pharmaceutical Research invites applications for
Nine Doctoral Student 4-year positions
starting January 1, 2010.
Education includes an initial examination, graduate school courses, writing of individual study plan, participation in congresses and doctoral thesis. Most of the students are Masters of Pharmacy to be educated as professionals for drug research and development. The graduate school works in collaboration with pharmaceutical industry, other Graduate schools and Universities.
The positions are open for graduate students with pharmaceutical or other suitable background. The applicant should have a Masters degree or equivalent studies.
The salary for the posts will be based on levels 1-4 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the new salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance.

3) research plan, 4) study plan, 5) supervisor’s agreement, and 6) copy from the student register. Application can be written in Finnish, Swedish or English. The applications will be evaluated by the Board of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Research. The decision to appoint is made by the doctoral student’s own university.
