Hyrmy has three mailing lists, (all of which are @helsinki.fi):
- hyrmy-list
- The main announcement list for events and common things. Messages to hyrmy-list are moderated except for council members and few other select people. Moderated messages do not appear on mailing list before listan admin has accepted them.
Hyrmy-list is low traffic list intended for all members.
- hyrmy-aktiivit
- The discussion list, where the events are planned and things get discussed, people can sell and buy stuff and advertise their events, organise workers for gigs and events, and so on. The active members are added to list every once in a while.
- hyrmy-council
- The council takes in suggestions and queries about Hyrmy and deals with them in council meetings. List consists of council members who get added there after elections.
All lists use spam filters by Helsinki University, and messages identified as spam will invariably go to moderation queue waiting for moderator acceptance. There's no 100 % certain way to get your message through, but disabling HTML mails and not advertising viagra will help.
Using Lists
To join the mailing list send message subscribe hyrmy-list (blank subject) to majordomo@helsinki.fi and to unsubscribe send unsubscribe hyrmy-list to majordomo@helsinki.fi. Unsubscription should be made using same address that is subscribed. IF you have problems, send mail to list's owners.
Note that the Reply of your mailing client may not work correctly on university mailing lists, use Reply to All instead.
