International Affairs

Organisation

Even though this section of the website of the University of Helsinki is titled "International Affairs", this refers to an operational entity rather than to an organisational unit. The University has adopted a decentralised appoach to organising internationalisation at the central level. At the moment there is no office called "International Affairs" or "International Relations".

Mostly this approach remains invisible to our partners and to our applicants and students. We aim at having clearly defined service points dedicated to different aspects of internationalisation. These are identified more closely in the "Contact" -section of this site.

The history and operational logic of this organisational model are described in greater detail in the following article, which first appeared as part of a publication called ”Managing an international office” published by EAIE.

And finally, it goes without saying that regardless of any organisational models the University of Helsinki remains strongly dedicated to international co-operation and welcomes like-minded partners to contact us in order to consider possibilities for new ideas and initiatives.
