Indo-European Studies is offered as a major subject on a MA level only. The program accepts students with a suitable BA, which must involve previous studies in one or several Indo-European languages.
The focus of Indo-European Studies is on the study of the most important early Indo-European languages (e.g. Hittite, Greek, Latin, Lithuanian, Old Irish, and Sanskrit) and on the comparative method of reconstruction.
The MA program in Indo-European Studies is based on the application of the comparative method with the Indo-European languages and it is aimed at providing the student with the tools for independent research in the field.Independent work consisting of book examinations and essays is the main form of study. Lecture courses (including text explications) are arranged every few years.
