Welcome to the Institute of Behavioural Sciences

The Institute  of  Behavioural Sciences (IBS), which  was launched on 1 January 2010, comprises three former university departments:

• Department of Education
• Department of Psychology
• Department of Speech Sciences

The new Institute has more than 1400 major degree students - with approximately 150  Master's degrees yearly completed in Cognitive science, Educational sciences, Logopedics, Phonetics and Psychology. The Helsinki University Centre for Research and Development of Higher Education also belongs to the Institute.

The roots and background of the Institute are deeply in former three Department's  high-quality international research and student-oriented teaching. To promote and further develop the missions of high-quality teaching, small teaching divisions - heavily based on Instutitute's strong and scientifically productive research groups - have been formed within the Institute.
