Guidelines for paper presenters
Technical needs
Every auditorium has an overhead projector, PC (with PowerPoint, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer and QuickTime Player), loudspeakers and data projector. We strongly recommend you to take your presentation with you in a memory stick AND CD. In case you use Apple Macintosh, please bring your own laptop and all the plugs.
Please, note also that before every session there is a coffee or lunch break and we highly recommend that during the break before your own presentation you check that the technical equipments you want to use is truly working. There will be a conference assistant in every auditorium during the whole day, ready to help you in all your problems.
Time
Each paper is allotted 30 minutes, including discussion. That leaves 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for the discussion, unless your panel organiser has decided otherwise.
Making copies at the conference site
It is not recommended to make copies at the conference (exept for plenary speakers). In case of emergency, you can buy a copy machine card at a shop quite near the main building (address: Yliopistopaino, Vuorikatu 4). Please noticethat the copy machines at the University are usually booked up or out of order.
Printing slides etc. at the conference site
There will be computer facilities with Internet hook up and printer connection. But please, bear in mind that there will only be a couple of computers (10, if they are all in order) available to all conference participants. One printed sheet of paper costs 10 cents.
Whom to contact with last minute problems when I’m on site?
The conference assistant (a student with a nameplate) of your auditorium.
Whom to contact with the problems I encounter if I am organiser of a panel or chair of a session?
The conference secretariat. When on site, you can’t miss us, we all wear yellow T-shirts!
