>> Areas of interest

My main research interests are in epigraphy and onomastics, both fields having lately seen an extension from the Latin west towards the eastern parts of the Roman empire. In addition, I am interested in Cicero, especially his speeches and their afterlife as illustrated e.g. by references and quotations in later authors. Lately, I have started to keep an eye on research on Latin texts written in Finland and aim in the future to produce some research of my own in this field.

I received my education in Rome, Helsinki, Moscow, Stockholm, Bucharest, and, between the ages of twelve and fifteen, in the Theresianische Akademie in Vienna, from there moving to Helsinki and graduating in 1970 from the Normaalilyseo school in Helsinki, main single purveyor of professors to the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Helsinki.
