2012 Confucius Institute Spring Festival Gala by Guangxi University Art Troupe
The 2012 Confucius Institute Spring Festival Gala was arranged on Saturday 28.1.2012 at Caisa International Cultural Centre in celebration of the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. The Spring Festival Gala featured dance and song acts from China's various nationalities, performed by the visiting Guangxi University Art Troupe.

Chinese Film Club
The Chinese film club gathers at the Confucius Institute Library to watch Chinese movies.

About the film:
Go Lala Go! is based on the bestselling Chinese novel Du Lala’s Promotion by Li Ke. Director Xu Jinglei herself stars as Du Lala, a persistent young woman who manages to get a job at the new Chinese offices of a prestigious American company. Thus begins her strive up the corporate ranks, despite recurrent frustrations and failures. She gets promoted from receptionist to secretary and on to HR manager. At the same time, her paths meet with handsome and wealthy sales director Wang Wei (Taiwanese pop star Stanley Huang), and eventually the two realize they have fallen in love. But can they make their relationship work despite all the challenges and obstacles they bump into? And how will Lala manage to balance her work and love life?
With its glossy, picture-perfect style and upbeat soundtrack, Go Lala Go! reflects the current trends of urban Chinese consumerist culture. The movie was a domestic box-office hit when it was released in China in April 2010.
Chinese Chess Club
Do you want to learn to play Chinese Chess? Both Finnish and Chinese players of Chinese Chess gather at the Confucius Institute.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Confucius Institute Scholarship 2011
Scholarship is divided into 3 categories: Scholarships for Four-Week Study, Scholarships for One-Academic Year Study and Scholarships for a Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens aged from 16 to 35 and in good health.
Scholarships are provided to outstanding students from Confucius Institutes worldwide. Applicants are required to have complete their study at a Confucius Institute for more than 30 hours and have participated in the new Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) and have no study experience in China in the previous year.
HSK tests will be organized on 21 May 2011 specially for scholarship applicants.

Renmin University of China International Summer School 2012
RUC International Summer School in Beijing, July 2 - July 27, 2012 Official website
The International Summer School of Renmin University of China (ISS) offers several courses in Chinese language and other subjects during July 2-27, 2012.
RUC will waive tuition fees for five Confucius Institute students and two UH students. Other students will enjoy a partner tuition fee of 5,000RMB (the normal fee is 6,500 RMB).The Confucius Institute will choose the participants, whose applications will then be forwarded to RUC.
Students may also apply for Hanban four-week scholarship. The Scholarship will cover students’ tuition, registration, accommodation at Renmin. The requirements for scholarship will be more or less the same as last year, please read the scholarship info above (updated information coming later on). Please note that you need to have taken/take the new HSK test in order to apply for the scholarship. However it cannot be guaranteed that all students will gain the Hanban scholarship.
Students wishing to apply the tuition waiver or Hanban scholarship are first requested to send an application letter to Confucius Institute ( by e-mail: mariliina.rasanen@helsinki.fi). The deadline for the application is March 16, 2012.
