Baltic Sea Village in Kotka 28.-30.7.

HENVI participated in the summer event called Kotkan Meripäivät in Kotka, Finland. Together with 15 other Baltic Sea organizations, University of Helsinki took part the Baltic Sea Village. Village´s goal was to introduce the wide range of organizations, that act towards healthier Baltic Sea.

University of Helsinki had its own pavilion where you could build a food chain or do some oil protection in practice. There were also two microscopes and a small aquarium from Tvärminne Research Station. Professor Sakari Kuikka and marine archaeologist Riikka Alvik also visited the pavilion.

According to some estimations, about 3000 visitors visited the Baltic Sea Village. Village was especially in favour of families. In general, people were interested about the topic and had many good questions. For us oraganisers, this three day event was a good chance to get to know other Baltic Sea actors and their work.
