HENNIGXXXIX

Welcome to the conference

After 20 yrs the Willi Hennig Society welcomes you to Finland to attend HENNIG XXXIX. The congress will be held on 24.-28.vii.2022 right in the city centre of Helsinki with easy access to public transportation and multiple hotels and restaurants.

The Willi Hennig Society advances theory, methodology, and practice of phylogenetic systematics for both living and fossil organisms, with emphasis on areas of common interest to all taxonomists. Presentations of classic and novel, integrative and interdisciplinary theories and methodologies that may help us to better understand the diversity of life, across time and space, and at multiple hierarchical levels are welcome. The congress is composed of keynote and regular lectures (some in pre-designated special symposia) plus a poster session. Due to the small size and tradition of these meetings there are no concurrent separate sessions.

In all fields of science theory and practice should be in constant correspondence and debate. This has been a particular strength over the decades in the WHS meetings. The methods of phylogenetic analyses are used also in studies of historical manuscripts and languages, and thus we hope that our congress will attract also other scientists besides biologists.

Deadlines to notice: student awards May 13th, EARLY BIRD registration EXTENDED until June 24th, abstracts due July 8th, 2022.
