Welcome to Institute of Dentistry
The Institute of Dentistry, University of Helsinki, belongs to the Faculty of Medicine. The Institute is in charge of dental research and higher dental education, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including continuing education.

The degree is divided into preclinical and clinical stages, the preclinical stage comprising two years at basic and biomedical studies common with medical students. At the three-year clinical stage, practical training makes up about one-third of the course load.
Multidisciplinary research
Institute of Dentistry conducts active, interdisciplinary research. The research topics ranged from epidemiological and public health issues to basic, applied and clinical research on oral and dental diseases.
