56282h Raster GIS in environmental studies (3 op, 2 ov)RESPONSIBLE TEACHER: COURSE TIME: TARGET GROUP AND PRELIMINARY KNOWLEDGE: Basic GIS course or equivalent skills. Basic knowledge in Excel, Access and SPSS are appreciated. The number of participants is limited to 12. Language is English. Registration will be available on the department intranet pages. The selection among registered studentswill be made based on the previous studies in geoinformatics and progress in studies in general. COURSE DESCRIPTION: The aim of Raster GIS course is to learn how GIS and Remote sensing techniques are used in environmental studies. Software used in this course: ArcGIS 9.0, ArcInfo, ERDAS IMAGINE, Excel, Access, SPSS and FRAGSTATS 3.3. COURSE AIMS AND MAIN THEMES: Students should achieve basic knowledge using Raster GIS and Remote sensing data and how to build and handle GIS-databases. Basics of spatial statistics and spatial modelling are also learned. |
