French philology refers to the teaching and research of French as well as French literature and culture. The objective of French philology studies is to give students a high proficiency in the French language and a thorough knowledge of modern French syntax and vocabulary. An additional aim of the studies is to familiarize the students with the history of the language, French-language culture and literature and the history of France.
