BalBiC

BalBiC–project promotes development of industrial biocoal production and its markets.

BalBic aims at increasing knowledge about the use and existing markets of wood -based biocoal in Finland and Latvia. The objective of the project is to support existing entrepreneurs within the field and encourage new entrepreneurs to enter the bioenergy market. The goal is to produce location specific information on available wood raw material resources needed for biocoal production. With this information the cooperation between biocoal producers and users could be improved.

BalBiC is a cooperation project with Forestry Development Centre Tapio and Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava" where lead partner is Department of Forest Sciences from University of Helsinki. The project is a part of the Central Baltic Interreg IV A Programme 2007-2013, financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the EU. The project will be implemented in July 2011-June 2013.
