Graduation ceremonies

The Faculty of Science issues Bachelor's, Master's, Licentiate’s and Doctor’s diplomas every month, except in July. Public graduation ceremonies (publiikki in Finnish) are held twice each year, in June and December.

Faculty of Science issues diplomas on predetermined graduation dates and ceremonies. The diplomas can be collected from the ceremony, from the Faculty Office or mailed by post.

In addition to registering for graduation, the graduate has to also register for the graduation ceremony. Graduation ceremonies are held at 14:15 in the Great Hall of Main Building (Unioninkatu 24, 2. floor). Graduates’ families and friends are welcome to the ceremony. The Faculty Office has to be notified of the number of guests at least a week in advance.

Everyone should be seated in the hall at least five minutes before the ceremony begins. Seating order is free. Formal clothing is recommended. In the ceremony, Vice Dean will present the diplomas and give a speech, after which the Faculty will offer sparkling wine for the graduates.

The Faculty of Science welcomes all new graduates to the Graduation Ceremony.
