but the research looks into the future. Although invisible,
mathematics offers innumerable interesting challenges to be solved.
Teaching at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is based on the most recent research data, and the lecturers are active and internationally recognized researchers. You will study in a welcoming and informal yet research-intensive atmosphere.
The degree program is flexible, and you can match the studies to your academic interests, while acquiring the general competence in the field. The research areas of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics are:
biomathematics, bioinformatics, biometry, econometrics, financial and insurance mathematics, industrial mathematics, inverse problems, mathematical analysis, mathematical logic, mathematical physics, statistical machine learning, social statistics, stochastics, time series analysis, and transformation groups.
Master of Science degree is awarded after two years of full time graduate studies (120 ECTS) following a Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) in a relevant field of study.
While writing your Master’s thesis during the final year of your studies, you will have an excellent opportunity to take part in the current research projects of the Department. Master of Science degree at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics forms a solid basis for PhD studies.
