FiDiPro professors
Initiated by the Academy of Finland and Tekes, the Finnish funding agency for technology and innovation, the Finland Distinguished Professor Programme (FiDiPro) is a funding programme to recruit non-Finnish or expatriate-Finnish professor-level researchers to Finland for a fixed term.
FiDiPro professors and research projects, and the project leaders appointed to the Kumpula campus are:
Doctor
Douglas Worsnop, Aerodyne Research Inc. (USA). The project researches the importance
of aerosole particles for climate change and health, and particularly the effect of biogenic
particles on the global small particle load. The leader of the project is Professor Markku Kulmala
from the Department of Physical Sciences.
Professor
Dimitris S. Argyropoulos, North Carolina State University (USA). The project researches
the possibilities the dissolution of wood presents to the use of wood and wood components in
the manufacture of new materials, wood fractionation and chemical treatment. The leader of the
project is Professor Markku Räsänen from the Department of Chemistry.
