Application form for Exchange Students

On this site you will find the on-line Application Form for Student Exchange (the link to the form is at the end of this page). Before you start to fill in the on-line form, please read the How to Apply Step by Step list:

  1. Home university nomination: Your home university has nominated you for student exchange at the University of Helsinki
  2. Field of study: Make it clear for what field of study you have been nominated (Field of the agreement)
  3. Read all information on Application Information for Exchange Students Applying to the University of Helsinki >>
  4. Learning agreement:
    1. Plan what courses you wish to take (remember the field of the agreement) . For example agreement in Sociology, choose courses in Sociology.
    2. Visit the websites of courses and make the plan for your studies: Courses in English>>, Courses taught in Finnish>> or Courses taught Swedish>>
  5. Motivation Letter: Plan what you will write on the Motivation Letter (Statement of Purpose), suggestions in Application Information for Exchange Students Applying to the University of Helsinki >>
  6. Dates: You know about the Important Dates>> (Deadlines, Semesters, Teaching Periods etc.)
  7. Read the instructions on how to fill in the on-line application form, instructions as pdf-file>>

 

Application Process in Short

    1. Erasmus and Nordplus applicants: Select on the on-line application form the continent, your home country, institute and exchange program.
    2. Applicants within the University bilateral agreement (not Erasmus) or AEN -programme or MAUI -programme: Select on the on-line form first the continent, your home country, home institution and as host faculty International Exchange Services (Administration)
      1. Applicants within ISEP, Nordlys or North2North exchange programme: Click first ISEP, Nordlys and North2North applications on the top of the front page of the on-line application form. More information in the Instructions, pdf-file >>
    3. Registration as applicant: Fill in the registration form (Personal details, data on current studies, data on planned studies, Motivation Letter, Language competence)
    4. Confirmation of registration: You will receive by email Confirmation of Registration, which includes a link for continuation of your application
      1. Enter your applicant account
      2. Complete your application and fill in the Learning agreement
    5. Print:
      1. The Learning agreement and ask your home university co-ordinator to sign it
      2. Print the Application form and sign it
  • Submit to the International Exchange Services:
    • The Application form and enclosures at the latest on the deadline (May 15 or October 15)
    • Signed Application form
    • Signed Learning Agreement
    • Transcript of Credits
    • Language Certificate
    • Optional enclosure: copy of the front page of your passport.
    • Submit the enclosures
      • by fax to number +358-9-191 22176 or
      • upload them to Mobility online system or
      • as email attachment (take care that your virus prevention software is up-to-date) to the co-ordinator at the International Exchange Services
        • Erasmus students to erasmus@helsinki.fi
        • Nordplus and Nordlys students to nordplus@helsinki.fi
        • Students within other exchange programmes to studentexchange@helsinki.fi   
      •  or submit them by post at the latest on the deadline International Exchange Services, P.O.Box 3 (Fabianinkatu 33), FI-00014 University of Helsinki, Finland.

Application deadlines for 2012-2013

  • May 15, 2012 for academic year 2012-13 or autumn semester 2012.
    • Application period has expired!
    • It is not possible to apply as an exchange student for autumn semester anymore!
  • October 15, 2012 for spring semester 2013.
    • Application period starts August 20, 2012 (in the afternoon Finnish time).
