European Area and Cultural Studies examines Europe as a social, cultural and historical construct. As of 2011–12, it is part of the umbrella programme of Area and Cultural Studies.
Students may take European Area and Cultural Studies as a major or minor subject of their Bachelor's or Master's degree or take individual courses according to their needs. European Area and Cultural Studies is also available as a doctoral degree programme.
As a minor subject, the programme is open to all degree students at the University of Helsinki.
