Description

The course gives an introduction to contemporary theories of the semantics of comparative constructions.

The emphasis lies on the following issues:

Students will have the opportunity to improve their skills in compositional formal semantic analysis.

Prerequisites

Good knowledge of predicate logic or a background in formal semantics (e.g. Heim & Kratzer 1998: Semantics in Generative Grammar or Dowty et al. 1981: Introduction to Montague Semantics) and some knowledge of GB-style syntax.
