IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The 2016 intake is last one to the ERI Programme. Starting 2017, there will be new MA programmes on offer! Ethnic Relations will be offered as a specialization line within a larger MA in Social Sciences. The application for the new programmes at the University of Helsinki will open in December 2016. Keep checking the webpages for Master's studies for up-to-date information!








The applicants must meet the following criteria:



1) Applicants must have completed at least a first-cycle (Bachelor’s) degree or an equivalent qualification at a recognised, high-quality university. Applications are also accepted from persons who have not yet graduated but will complete their first-cycle degree or equivalent qualification by 29 July 2016.

In order to get accepted one must have a relatively large amount of credits in one of the following disciplines (approximately 60 ECTS minimum):

  • Social Psychology
    -     or a closely related discipline with studies equivalent to basic and intermediate studies in Social Psychology at the University of Helsinki

  • Sociology
    - or a closely related discipline with studies equivalent to basic and intermediate studies in Sociology at the University of Helsinki

  • Social and Cultural Anthropology
    - or an equivalent discipline, with studies equivalent to basic and intermediate level studies in Anthropology at the University of Helsinki.




    PLEASE NOTE ! Applicants should apply to the major subject which is closest to their previous studies.For example, it is not possible to be admitted to the Social Psychology major with a BA in Sociology or vice versa.


2) Applicants must have completed their prior studies in the proposed subject with very good grades (Students accepted to the programme usually have completed their prior studies with the grade B or higher on the ECTS scale).

 

3) International applicants are required to have academic level proficiency in English in order to be able to successfully complete their studies. Acceptable language tests and minimum scores

Graduates from a Finnish university who have completed the required English language modules as part of the BA do not need to do a language test.
International applicants: You do not have to do a language test if you have a university degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s or polytechnic degree) completed in English in one of the EU/EEA countries or the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.

If you already have a Master's Degree, you might consider applying for postgraduate studies.
