Teleology and History: A Critical Assessment of an Enlightenment Thought: Team

The working group is co-chaired by Dipesh Chakrabarty, Henning Trüper and Sanjay Subrahmanyam. It is composed of the 8 team members of the project “Europe between Restoration and Revolution/Geopolitics and Global Law 1815-1914” at Helsinki University,  plus a core group consisting of Etienne Balibar,  Faisal Devji, Thomas Hippler, Sven Trakulhun and Peter Wagner. To this continuous group of some 15 people some 5-6 specialists will be invited for each meeting, varying with the specific theme so that in all there will be around 20 participants at each meeting, a good critical mass for reflection and discussion and a good balance between continuity and renewal in the discussion. The discussions will be based on papers by the invitees and dependent on the theme some members of the research team and the core group.
