Theology
The Faculty of Theology has provided higher education in theology since the establishment of the University; today it
is among the largest theological faculties in the world. The Faculty is not attached to any religious denomination.
Courses can be taken by completing either study modules or individual lecture courses/seminars:
a) Completing study modules (5 Finnish credits/10 ECTS credits). A description of these modules, with reading lists,
follow below or can be found on the Study Guide of the Faculty of Theology. Study modules TDK210 and TDK230 are
multi-disciplinary courses consisting of five parts, each representing a theological discipline (Biblical Studies, Church
History, Systematic Theology, Comparative Religion, Practical Theology). To complete a TDK210 or TDK230 module,
you need to take all five parts either as lecture courses or by taking an examination in the required reading. At least two
parts of TDK210 or TDK230 modules must be completed by taking a lecture course.
b) Completing individual lecture courses or subject-related seminars (1-3 Finnish credits/2-6 ECTS credits). Lecture
courses and seminars can be taken as a part of a study module or individually.
