The exhibition boasts a comprehensive collection of Barbie's early outfits and other Barbie items 1959-1965. Visitors will get to know Barbie's relatives and friends as well as her many jobs and hobbies - Barbie's career has ranged from flight attendant and nurse to ballet dancer and astronaut. It also features more recent Barbie fashion, with the museum's Barbie catwalk displaying creations by the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Givenchy as well as a variety of collector dolls.

Jouni Kaipia: Scenes and Settings - Architectural Photographs with Human Beings (and Some Animals)...The exhibition's photographs were taken on Kaipia's trips in Asia made during the last ten years. There are slightly less than one hundred photographs in the exhibition; all but one were taken during the years 1998-2008. The images are from Bangladesh, Burma, India, Japan, Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.

The purpose of the seasonal exhibition is to explain the background to the devaluations in Finland of 1957 and 1967, how the devaluations were brought about and their effect. The exhibitions at to enable the visitor of today to understand the monetary policy environment of a time when parliamentary turnover was so frequent that the average age of a government was only a year.

The Finland-based Iraqi artist Adel Abidin (b. 1973) will present a series of new installations that merge sound, moving image and sculptural elements.

Five Finnish artists have been nominated for the Ars Fennica award in 2009. The winner will be picked by Vicente Todoli, the director of Tate Modern. The winner will be announced on 19 November 2009. Viewers of the exhibition at Kiasma also have the chance to vote for their favourite artist. Ars Fennica is the biggest visual arts award in Finland. Given out annually by the Henna and Pertti Niemistö Art Foundation Ars Fennica, it is a recognition of original, high-quality artistic work.

The working title of the 11th collection exhibition in Kiasma is Event Art. Divided into four thematic sections, the show will investigate the idea of event in art. The thematic fields are participatory art, time and duration, presenting and staging, and performance art. Some of the works in the exhibition invite the audience to participate, focusing on the interaction between the viewer and art.

The artist photographer's first major exhibition in Finland, will consist of a cross section of her photographic series produced in the 2000s and of new video works.

Saara Ekström (b. 1965) creates innovative combinations using different techniques in her videos, photographs and installations. She is interested in natural and artificial materials that embody strong symbolic values.

The exhibition examines the era of President Urho Kekkonen through an intriguing phenomenon that involved art. The Soviet artist Ilya Glazunov was considered Kekkonen's "court painter", a status that attracted a great deal of attention in Finland in the 1970s.

The ARS 11 exhibition undermines the narrow conception of contemporary African reality as nothing but a continuum of ancient traditions and their modern reiteration. It deconstructs myths and ideas associated with African culture and African contemporary art, and it also brings good news from today's Africa.

The common factor shared by artists in this exhibition is that they all depict this day and age in their work, examining and commenting on contemporary phenomena and the diversity of contemporary reality. They examine life through work, dreams and cultural identities. Individual experiences grow into a collective and recognisable story of our global age. The private and the public, the aesthetic and the political, all converge in dialogue in the works.

Isaac Julien (b. 1960 in London) is one of the foremost contemporary artists today. His video installations make versatile use of film, dance, theatre, music and visual art.

The exhibition on the fifth floor in Kiasma presents Jenssen's latest work, colouristically exuberant paintings and organic sculptures. The titles of Jenssen's works evolve slowly during the painting process.
