Make your company a partner in the doctoral education pilot

The University of Helsinki invites companies to a unique partnership with its doctoral education pilot. The doctoral education pilot at the University of Helsinki consists of eleven consortia with 236 three-year PhD positions.

The Parliamentary RDI Task Force has estimated that between 2024 and 2030, an additional 9,000 RDI participants will be needed annually for research and innovation positions. Of this number, it is hoped that around 2,000 will be PhDs, half of whom could find career opportunities in business.

The University of Helsinki is developing doctoral education to meet the needs of today’s working world. We warmly welcome companies to join us in the doctoral education pilot.

Research-based knowledge for your business needs

The doctoral education pilot offers a wide range of opportunities for companies to collaborate, including co-funded research projects on topics important to your business, mentoring by doctoral researchers, teaching on courses, and possibilities to host short visits or longer training for doctoral researchers. Opportunities vary from programme to programme.

Benefits for partners:

  • Knowledge for your business through a co-funded research project: Co-funded research on the PhD project will provide you with new research-based knowledge and expertise on topics important to your business. A co-funded research project will grant you the the right to negotiate for IPR with the University of Helsinki.
  • Finding talent: You’ll get to know doctoral researchers and find new talent to recruit following their dissertations. You can mentor doctoral researchers and help them build a career towards the corporate world.
