University Sports Services offers excellent facilities for all university students within the Helsinki metropolitan area to exercise and take part in sports at a low cost and in an academically convivial environment.
The range of sports offered by the University Sports Services includes gym facilities, exercise and dance classes and a wide range of different ball games. The fee paid to the Sports Services also entitles customers to a discount in many Helsinki swimming pools.
The University Sports Services take into account the widely differing needs of the different customer groups. Those preferring to exercise in groups are sure to find suitable classes whether as a beginner or as an accomplished athlete. The friendly staff of the Sports Services is happy to help you find a sport either from the range of classes on offer or other exercise options that will best suit your needs and likes.
In gym training, there are both starter courses and personal trainers, who will plan a training programme supporting your personal targets. The largest gyms, complete with new equipment, are located on the City Centre and Kumpula campuses.
Using the University Sport Service facilities costs only 58 euros per year for the students and staff of the universities listed below:
o University of Helsinki
o Hanken, the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration
o Academy of Fine Arts
o National Defence College
o Sibelius Academy
o University of Art and Design Helsinki
o Theatre Academy
To members of other universities, the annual fee is 240 euros.
The university staff and students are required to present a valid student or staff card when paying the annual fee.
