Railway Square Ice Park open
Saturdays, when the night falls, top performers from the Helsinki band scene take to the Ice Park stage. The concerts are free.
Sunday 23 November saw the annual opening of the Helsinki Ice Park, a venue dedicated to ice skating and fun, in Railway Square. In addition to the large skating rink, the park also has a stage for live music and performances and a café.
"The Ice Park welcomes people of all ages who want to skate and have fun outdoors in the midst of an urban setting," says Asko Rahikainen, Head of Planning, City of Helsinki Sports Department.
According to Rahikainen, the Ice Park is a great place for the whole family to enjoy or for workmates to spend time together after work.
"You don't have to bring your own skates, skate and helmet hire is available at the rink."
The Ice Park is open daily and there are organized events for everyone. At weekdays there will be free skating lessons available. From Wednesdays to Fridays there will be themed music nights.
Saturdays, the day is devoted for children, but when the night falls, top performers from the Helsinki band scene take to the Ice Park stage. The concerts are free.
The Sunday programme at the Ice Park has been planned with families in mind.
