How to enrol in a comprehensive school?
Finnish comprehensive school is intended for pupils between 7 and 15 years. Many private schools have pre-school or kindergarten for younger children.
Children coming from abroad can enrol in any grade of comprehensive school. Some foreign-language schools have aptitude tests, and many have a language test. It is usually possible to gain admission to a city-operated Finnish- or Swedish-speaking comprehensive school or contract school not far from the home.
