Services provided by the YTV
YTV is in charge of public transport across municipal boundaries and of the route planning and time-tabling of bus services in Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen and Kerava.
Most bus routes in the Helsinki metropolitan area change timetables twice a year, once at the start of the summer season and again in early autumn when normal services resume. YTV publishes timetables for both seasons. Booklets containing all timetables are distributed to every household in Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa and Kerava whenever the season changes.
The timetable booklets are also available free of charge at Citizens Offices in Espoo and Vantaa and at Helsinki City Transport service points in Helsinki. In-formation on timetables is also available on the YTV website, at each bus stop, as printed timetable sheets available in buses and from the travel information telephone service at 0100-111 (subject to charge).
The Journey Planner is an online service that gives you advice on the best choices for travel between two locations in the Helsinki metropolitan area by public transport at a given time. The service recognises all street addresses in the area and a vast number of other locations as well. Information in the Journey Plan-ner is updated every two weeks. The pocket version of the Journey Planner works in many mobile devices equipped with a HTML browser. On the Internet, you can browse the timetables and print off timetables for specific bus stops if you like, using either the name or street address of the stop as a search term. The ¿line-picking¿ function allows you to select the bus lines you want to include in a printed timetable for a specific stop.
The Line Search is a map service available in connection with the YTV Journey Planner; it shows you where a specific bus route runs on the map and where the stops are. The Line Search covers all public transport lines in the Helsinki metropolitan area and is regularly updated.
Once a year, YTV publishes a public transport map for both Espoo and Vantaa. The maps show all the public transport routes within Espoo and Vantaa, and also the routes that cross the municipal boundaries. The maps are available free of charge from service points.
In addition, there is also a park-and-ride map available on the YTV website. The park-and-ride map shows over 50 parking places in the Helsinki metropolitan area, with information on the number of park-ing spaces available, directions for finding each parking place and the main public transport connections available there. Most of the park-and-ride facilities are free of charge if the person parking there travels onward using public transport.
Maps of terminals show the locations of platforms in the main public transport terminals. These maps are also included in the timetable booklets. There are also maps of bus routes at most bus stops. The Jokeri line, 550, bus stops have bus route maps as well as a map of the immediate neighbourhood of the bus stop, to help you find an address nearby.
