Current Research

Dr. Maria Varaki is a Greek lawyer and since September 2016 a post doctoral research fellow with the Erik Castren Institute of International Law and Human Rights, working on an Aristotelian theory of ethics for global governance under the supervision of Prof. Klabbers.

Her current research interests focus on legal theory and virtue ethics, international responsibility with regard to refugee law, international courts and tribunals, the evolution of International Law during the Cold War and populist challenges to the rule of law concept.
