Current Research:

Ukri is a member of the research project ‘Law and the Other in Post-multicultural Europe’ and the Graduate School ‘Law in a Changing World’. His doctoral research deals with the process of humanization of international law. Rather than challenging the existing historical narratives of the process, the research engages with the legal concepts used in that process in order to understand how they function and to unveil their effects at present day. In other words, the research asks what it is that these legal concepts do, or more specifically, how human life is governed through them.

Special fields of interest:

Human rights, post-structural theory, critical legal studies, questions of biopolitics and biopower.
